Green World Ecological Farm is located in Beipu Township, Hsinchu County. It is a large ecological farm and tourist attraction. As a native of Hsinchu County, I took advantage of the long weekend to plan a trip with my infant to introduce them to the world of flora and fauna. Unfortunately, I lost the previously written article, which was very disheartening, so I'm reposting it now. Below, you'll find the latest ticket prices and hours for 2023, with relevant web links provided in the article. I recommend checking for any updates before your visit. While there is plenty of information available about Green World Ecological Farm, there's relatively less information about bringing infants under one year old to the farm in Beipu, Hsinchu County. Perhaps this article can make your travel arrangements smoother!

For infants under one year old, they may not be able to recall these experiences as they grow older, but close encounters with nature play a vital role in their sensory development. Even though they can't express themselves through words yet, these sensory stimulations enrich their perceptual abilities, promote their physical and mental development, and nurture a love and care for nature that will stay with them throughout their lives.

Green World Ecological Farm in Beipu Township, Hsinchu County, is an ideal choice. Being a native of Hsinchu County, I had always wanted to visit Green World, but back then, I had to forgo the idea due to the restriction on bringing pets into the natural ecological area. Finally, during this long weekend, I made my first visit.

How to Plan Your Park Itinerary

Before delving into the thematic introductions of each area, I believe it's essential to establish a few key points to enhance your park experience.

  • Is it the season for the cypress trees shedding their leaves? Since the cypress tree area is located deep within the park, if you're visiting during the season, it's advisable to take the park shuttle directly, so you'll need to purchase tickets upon arrival. If it's not the season and you're uncertain about the infant's condition, you might consider not going all the way in.
  • Do you want to schedule animal interactions? Animal interaction experiences vary depending on the weather and the timing of different species. Upon entering the park, you can pick up a schedule at the entrance to facilitate your itinerary planning.
  • Is the weather overcast or rainy when you go? In addition to the potential impact on animal interaction experiences as mentioned earlier, the grass areas might be muddy. If you're using a baby stroller, be cautious, and also pay attention to your footwear to avoid stepping in mud.

The Six Main Theme Areas

Swan Lake

Located on the left side at the entrance, this area houses the ostrich zone and the black-bellied sheep zone. It's also a great spot for bird watching. The lake area is ideal for taking photos, and waterfowl roam freely in the grass and by the lake. If your infant can walk, it's a lovely place for a stroll. During our visit, we saved this area for the last stop. In the future, if there's time, perhaps we can take a leisurely walk around the lake.

Biodiversity Adventure Area

This area provides numerous interactive opportunities, such as llama and ostrich walks, feeding shows, offering children a chance to get up close to animals. Additionally, there's a Biodiversity Exploration Hall in the area that simulates a multi-species living environment in a tropical rainforest scenario.

We found the part about the squirrel monkeys in this area a bit disheartening. Compared to the activity space and requirements of other species, the squirrel monkeys appear to have more limitations, which might lead to restless and repetitive walking behaviors.

Butterfly Ecological Park

This area is adorned with various flowers that attract numerous butterflies. Even though infants may not have developed verbal skills, they can still benefit from sensory stimulation here. The park also features a natural classroom, offering an educational yet enjoyable option. However, we didn't visit this area during our trip. Perhaps we'll plan it when the children are a bit older.

Discovery Land Area

The discovery land area encompasses many key themes, all along a circular park route starting from the slope near the women's restroom. However, the slope can be a bit steep, so if infants can't walk yet, you might consider using a baby carrier for the visit. The distance is short, so it shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience.
In addition to the Cute Animals Area, there are also numerous plant exhibitions in this zone. Inside the Cute Animals Area, you'll find sika deer and wild rabbits, as well as chickens and peacocks. On the day of our visit, we overheard someone joking that this might be the famous math problem of 'chickens and rabbits in the same cage'! However, there was a little incident where, despite the 'do not feed' signs posted throughout the park, some visitors were feeding papaya to the animals. This trip to the park with Chester reminded me that in situations like these, it seems that in Australia, strict prohibitions are enforced. I can't help but think that private farms could use these opportunities for education, but due to budget constraints and public sentiment, it might be an unattainable goal.

The Cactus & Succulent Park is a popular spot for many to come and take photos, although it's smaller than one might imagine. However, the guided tours played nearby are quite informative. It's just that during the holidays, the crowds make it a bit challenging to fulfill the desire for photography.

Bird Ecological Park

This area is extensive, extending to the innermost part of the park. Additionally, the Hakka Ancient Restaurant is located in this area. We didn't visit it this time, but if we plan to see the cypress trees later, we'll arrange for the park shuttle to take us to this area for exploration.

Water Plants Park

The Water Plant Park in Green World is one of the largest of its breed in Asia. There are over 500 species of water plants in the parks, including all kinds of submergent plants, floating plants, emergent plants and free floating plants, such as the yellow water lily, the Lsoetestaiwanensis Devol, the Egyptian paper reeds etc. (Excerpted from the official website)
This area is also home to the famous Cypress Dream Trail, a fantastic spot for photography and visits during the winter season.

Activities and Facilities

Transportation: Park Shuttle

Starting from June 1, 2023, due to increased equipment maintenance costs, the single ride fee for the park shuttle will be $30, and the shuttle ticket will be priced at $150 per ticket
You can use it for 5 rides (shareable with family and friends), and if you don't use all of them on the same day, you can get a refund at the Visitor Services Center.

This time, we didn't purchase tickets because we didn't plan to go to the farthest location. Additionally, taking the park shuttle with a baby stroller would be a bit inconvenient. However, if you don't have much luggage, you can consider using an EasyCard for convenience.

食:餐廳及咖啡廳

Shaoxing Wine Chicken Noodle, served with red tea and bean curd dessert.

餐廳:You can find your main meal needs at Tangchao and the Hakka Ancient Restaurant. However, personally, if it spans lunchtime, you can consider bringing simple snacks to eat. On the day we went, we dined at Tangchao. The electronic vouchers at the end of this article can be redeemed for discounts, and there are plenty of choices. But due to the holiday crowds, queuing, finding seats, and the humid weather, it can be a bit uncomfortable.
Cafe:There are quite a few scenic cafes throughout the park. Variety of cafe options to choose from.

Family and Kid-Friendly

The frequent organization of off-campus educational activities in the park often leads to the presumption that it is family and kid-friendly. In terms of the educational and recreational opportunities provided by the park, I do believe it's an excellent destination for families with children. Additionally, for those who don't have a baby stroller with them, the park also offers a complimentary baby stroller lending service.
However, the setup of the breastfeeding room is really inadequate! I hope not to let a breastfeeding room disproportionately affect the main content of the article, so I'll simply introduce the environment.
The breastfeeding room in the park is a standalone small cabin, not connected to the restroom. Inside, there are two changing tables and hot water available. However, the key point is the primary function of breastfeeding. It is furnished with two couches separated by a moldy screen, and a curtain is used to cover the gap between the two couches. Unfortunately, the curtain doesn't cover this area completely. During my breastfeeding sessions, aside from the continuous stream of parents changing diapers outside, which led to most parents leaving the door open, several kids kept rushing into the curtain area to observe my breastfeeding. Although parents tried to stop them, the curtain that couldn't be pulled up was of no help

In order to avoid capturing the people at the entrance in photos, everyone can just take a look at those two curtains. It's this level of openness

I personally believe that the design of a breastfeeding room doesn't need to be overly extravagant, but given the overall environment is still not very breastfeeding-friendly, at the very least, it should allow infants to eat without disturbance or even being frightened, right?

Show and Activities

The farm offers several animal interaction experiences, such as the Animal Amphitheater, Alpaca Parade, and Pelican Feeding Show. The following information is from the official website as of 2023.

Animal Amphitheater

Everyday: 11:00, 13:30, 15:00
Location: Exotic Cuisine(Biodiversity Adventure Area )

Alpaca Parade

(Might cancelled on rainy day; Despite the light rain on the day we visited, we still got to see the Alpaca Parade.)

Everyday: 10:30, 13:00, 14:30
Location: Green World Plaza(Biodiversity Adventure Area )
Before the activity starts, there will be a guide explaining the precautions, and it's essential to avoid getting too close to the front or back of the alpacas to prevent being spat on or kicked. I'd like to emphasize this point because on that day, many kids were energetically rushing to the front of the alpacas and trying to pet them constantly. While close interaction with animals is encouraged, this is not a good practice.

Pelican Feeding Show

(Might cancelled on rainy day; Despite the light rain on the day we visited, But we still got to see the pelicans coming out early.)

Weekend: 15:30
Location: Green World Plaza(Biodiversity Adventure Area )

Animal Interaction

We didn't specifically plan for this part, but if you're interested, you can visit according to the schedule.

EVERYDAY: Sloth Feeding Time 14:00
EVERYDAY: Birds Feeding Time 10:30
WEEKEND: Lovely Animal Feeding 10:30

Conclusion

Green World Ecological Farm is a suitable destination for family outings. The farm offers several animal interaction experiences, such as the Animal Amphitheater, Alpaca Parade, and Pelican Feeding Show. However, the environment in the breastfeeding room is not very friendly. When bringing a baby under one year old to Green World Ecological Farm, there are additional factors to consider, including weather, transportation, and dining choices. If there's a chance to visit again, I would likely follow my initial recommendations, carefully considering the weather and itinerary, while also thinking about whether it might be more comfortable to breastfeed on the grass.
